AstraZeneca West Chester, Ohio plant is a global supplier of two forms of Type II Diabetes drugs currently distributed in over twenty countries worldwide. The plant is responsible for manufacturing, filling, packaging, and distributing the pharmaceutical products to all of these markets. There is a certain complexity when it comes to manufacturing a sterile injectable which takes a great deal of support onsite to monitor both the facility and the manufacturing areas. There is also a lot of support needed when it comes to quality and change management, ensuring that our practices at West Chester meet the rigorous regulatory standards set by the different agencies that oversee production of sterile pharmaceuticals. The supply chain is complex due to our pharmaceutical products being cold chain and having different testing requirements for the different markets we are in. There is a great deal of planning that goes into each batch of our product to ensure that it manufactured to the requirements of that market and gets to them in the proper state. It truly takes a team at West Chester to continually support each and every one of our patients with our products on time every time throughout the world.
